Easter Bonnets

I don’t know how it is but I have managed to survive close to 8 years of parenting without participating in an Easter Bonnet parade.. or rather without my children participating in said Easter Bonnet parade.

However this year all that changes and my girls are excited about their Easter Bonnets.

First step was for us all to go to our local op shop to choose items with which to make our Easter Bonnets. We tried on various hats and scarves that were to form the base of our creations:

From March 2011

I chose the op shop because I wanted to make sure we could recycle our creations. We walked out with a basket filled with objects to help us make the bestest Easter Bonnets ever:

From March 2011

In our basket we had – hats (of course), scarves, fake flowers, big bag of hairclips shaped like butterflies and flowers, a bag of small stuffed toys in which we spotted two rabbits, some Christmas decorations and other items deemed essential by Annie or Heidi.

Back home we began to work on our creations:

From March 2011

The hairclips proved very popular for both girls to work with.

Heidi’s fantastic creation… there is a pink scarf you can not see which trails down the back also. The bunny is stuck through the hat band so it stays in place.

Annie’s creation, I’m not sure why the pictures came out yellow, lets pretend I was going for the arty look yes.

Lots of fun and now we are all ready for Schools big Easter Bonnet parade on the last day of term. :)
